I dont know if you are following the local coal seam gas free bass coast forum? For those of you that might want to join those that are striving for a CSG Bass Coast, here is the latest from Peter Wonford that is doing a fabulous job of keeping us informed and hopefully inspired! On 6 Jun 2014, at 4:33 pm, CSG-Free Bass Coast wrote: Good evening Everyone! As you might be aware, the first of the government-sponsored Community Consultation meetings about CSG was held in Warragul yesterday. This went well from our perspective, and we will be sending out information in the near future to assist us to gain the maximum effect when we attend the upcoming Inverloch meeting. The major conclusion following yesterdays meeting is that it is imperative that as many people as possible attend and make their views known; the worst possible outcome would be for the vested interests to be able to say that only a small number of people attended, allowing the conclusion to be drawn that there are no significant community objections to Gippsland being turned into a giant gasfield with thousands of well-heads... Fortunately, as a result of the efforts of our friends at Quit Coal and a number of local volunteers, there was a good turn-out in Warragul; this was noted and has set a standard we need to match or beat! Please help spread the word by letting your friends, neighbours and work colleagues know about this important event! Of course the principal objective is for as many people as possible to attend at any time during the opening hours of 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm and provide your input. Based on the Warragul experience the time needed to talk with one of the facilitators staffing the session is only a few minutes, so it should not take up too much of your time. However, if in addition to this you are available to help us derive some additional benefit please plan on showing up about half an hour before the official opening time; we know that the media will be there and it would be great to get some publicity to help spread the word. Further details will be sent out closer to the time. We now know what the format of the meeting will be, and what questions we will be asked. We are preparing some notes based on what was learned in Warragul to help ensure that between us all the relevant points are made and dispel any anxiety one might have had in the absence of any prior knowledge. We will be sending this out shortly. Please make a note of the upcoming meeting dates and locations; if you are unable to attend the nearest one because of prior commitments please plan on attending one of the others -- there is no obligation to attend the closest one. The obvious alternative to Inverloch is Mirboo North. (If you are planning to attend Mirboo North and would like to car-pool, please let us know and we will try and put people in touch with one another.)
