I dont remember which Star Trek movie it was, but one of them has Picard joining the final battle w/the Borg late. As he approaches the battle he tells everybody to fire on these coordinates on the Borg cube, at which point the cube is immediately destroyed. He would not have revealed that information any earlier? The military is not so procedural that this information would have come out? He didnt deem it important enough to reveal a 100% sure-fire way to destroy a Borg cube, until dozens of Federation ships had already been destroyed? Movie writers are such geniuses.
