I get frustrated with all the gimmicks and borderline scams in the movement business. Scrolling down my wall, I see advertisements from coaches whos only credentials involve the use of a credit card to be authorized to sell products and follow brand scripts, people posing under a brand as elete MMA coaches catering to general population, and a myriad of faux gurus with nothing to show for their talents besides epic selfies. I also see plenty of people doing great things, and that makes me warm and tingly. In my world, I saw amazing progress from a schoolteacher who, a few months ago, thought she didnt have the time to get in shape, taught a senior with a diagnosis sheet three pages long that she could in fact squat without pain, and even pick things up and put them down without exploding, and watched someone who has exactly one week of lifetime training experience learn a beautiful kettlebell swing, all before noon. Sure, its fun to post the pictures of people acting like bad-asses and all, but its all the baby steps that lead to bad-assery that keep me from getting into some khakis and making the big bucks. No gimmicks, just fundamentals until its time to go ham. Then well work on your perfect Instagram post.
