I had a discussion today with a friend about how I feared todays siege would spark and spread more racism towards Islam, and by consequence, how my Muslim friends would have a tougher tomorrow to face. Simple misinformation can, intentionally or unintentionally, aid the growing Islamophobia they constantly have to deal with. But it warms my heart to see the people of Sydney (and perhaps the rest of Australia / the world) put aside their differences and voice solidarity with the Muslim community. Peace is never found in unity in similarity but unity in diversity. Heres hoping we wake up to a better tomorrow, especially for those that are directly and indirectly involved with todays incident.
