I had a grand time with my parents last night when I dropped by in CDO. We were reminiscing the old songs, from my SPOTIFY, Bluetoothed to a speaker. The piano pieces of Mama, (Claire de Lune by Debussy), and Papas violin piece (Schuberts Serenade). After going thru the Nat King Coles, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Preslys Pat Boone etc, PAPA GAVE ME THE BIGGEST SURPRISE EVER. HE PULLED OUT A PICTURE OF ME WHEN I WAS 18YRS OLD FROM HIS WALLET. That was the time I left home when I declared my desire to be independent and came to DAVAO to work, finish school on my own and find my place in the sun. HE WAS KEEPING IT IN HIS WALLET ALL THIS TIME. MY HEART LITTERALLY STOPPED. I now remember the story related to me by one of his Co workers in Zambia, when he was a consultant there after he retired from DBP, that Papa gave a celebration when he learned I won as a COUNCILOR (1988). He never told me about that. And he kept one of my calendars (with my whole family in it) under his glass table when he was working as an assistant to the librarian in one of the schools in the U. S. and proudly showing it to everyone who visits his table. AND I HAVE WRITTEN HIM ONLY ONCE DURING ALL THE TIME HE WAS OUT OF THE COUNTRY. NOW THAT THEY ARE BACK IN THE COUNTRY FOR GoOD ( they are now in their middle eighties) , I WILL VISIT THEM AS OFTEN AS MY TIME PEMITS. SOMETIMES WE CHILDREN NEVER REALIZE HOW PROUD OUR PARENTS ARE OF US, BECAUSE THEY SELDOM TELL US SO. GIVE YOUR PARENTS AN EXTRA HUG WHILE YOU CAN TODAY, AS YOU READ THIS.
