I had dinner with my aunt today. Shes been a teacher in the Cedar Rapids Community School District for over two decades. We inevitably started talking about education and students of color and during that convo she said something that stuck hard in my mind. I do it because someone has to be the one encouraging our kids to be scientists, artists, presidents or whatever they can dream.
