I had hoped to escape the use of Roundup in the desert, but there is widespread usage here. The DOT did not want to spend their funds on a water conservation project one block from our home along a median where they were removing grass that required watering (a good thing). However, instead of laying landscape fabric over existing grass, then covering it with rocks, they put rocks over live grass, then brought in tankers and sprayed fire-hose quantities all over the rocks! Bill tried to pin DOT down on what was used at an open meeting, but they didnt know! This morning I look out, and a snowbird that has returned was spraying Roundup across the street. People please: bend over and pull the occasional weed growing in your desert landscape. Its good for you and good for the environment!
