I have a deep detestation for ‘squishy’ Republicans especially those that speak one thing and do another. We do however need to be ‘not so quick’ to put someone into that little box. ← see what I did there? We need to question the why behind the what someone said. Sometimes, the media puts their own spin on something so it will fit their agenda. Sometimes it is our own frienemies, who want to undercut the TEA Party and conservatives in our own party. Either way, we must be careful. The reason I bring this up is because Scott Walker, the GOP Governor of Wisconsin, was reported as saying he supports a ‘pathway to citizenship’ for illegal immigrants in the Washington Post. He explained himself in an interview with Breitbart News when they brought up what the Post said. Walker said, “See now that’s where they take it out of context,” “I’ve not said there should be amnesty in this country. I don’t believe that. I don’t support the legislation being kicked around. What I’ve said repeatedly is we need to fix the immigration system, but fix the legal system. So if people want to come in this country we should have a legal immigration system.” The interviewer then interjected: “And take care of the borders and everything we have to do first.” Walker concurred, saying that any immigration reform efforts should “fix the front door.” ~ §torm
