I heard a familiar name on the news just now. That name is Keith Bryant and he will be the new superintendent at the Lubbock-Cooper Independent School District. He has something in common with Facebook Friends Bric Turner and Rodney Foy. He played in the very second football game I ever covered for money. The game was a 20-3 victory by the Lamesa Golden Tornadoes that took place in 1985 at Wigwam Stadium in Seminole. Keith was the quarterback for Lamesa that day and his main job was to hand the ball off to running back Kenneth Williams who had a pretty game. That was not the last time we would cross paths. I covered some basketball playoff games at the Lamesa Middle School and he was nice enough to let me use his office phone to call in my story. I believe might have been the high school principal then. He was a really nice guy. He thought it was neat that he covered a game he played. Heres wishing him a nice reign at Lubbock-Cooper.
