I just sent five emails to various agencies within the U.S. Government, or working for the U.S. Government. Probably wont do a thing, but it is done and had to be said (says me and my big mouth). Hope I dont get arrested or investigated (smile): Dear Sir or Maam, I think that Congress needs to be declared a hostile work environment and that the President and Congressional members of the Democratic Party need to file a complaint based on harassment and discrimination based on race and political affiliation, among other things, by the Congressional members of the Republican Party. That the U.S. Congress, both the House and the Senate, is a hostile work environment is evidenced by: Discriminatory workplace harassment based on race, color, national origin, political affiliation, and/or citizenship status. There is known retaliation against those being discriminated against. The hostile conduct and speech is intimidating, offensive, abusive and/or otherwise offensive, going beyond rudeness or casual joking. The hostile conduct and speech reaches the level of harassment, mockery, ridicule and/or unrelenting teasing. The harassment is intentional, severe, recurring and pervasive, and interferes with an employees ability (The President and Congressional members of the Democratic Party) to perform his or her job whether victim or witness. The victim and or witnesses (The President and Congressional members of the Democratic Party) reasonably believe that tolerating the hostile work environment is a condition of continued employment; they reasonably believe that they have no choice, but to endure a hostile workplace in order to keep their jobs. A reasonable person would characterize the hostile and harassing conduct, speech and retaliatory conduct as such. The U.S. Government and specifically the Legislative Branch of the U. S. Government must develop and implement standards of conduct and policy for the workplace to remedy the hostile work environment that is threatening the very functioning of our government and our country. In developing and implement these standards of conduct and workplace policy, it is suggested that existing model policy be consulted, starting with Bob Sutton’s “The No Asshole Rule: Building a Civilized Workplace and Surviving One That Isn’t.”
