I normally dont like to post long stories on Facebook, but I had - TopicsExpress

I normally dont like to post long stories on Facebook, but I had an interesting experience today. While driving down the road my house is on, a woman stepped in front of my car and waved me down. She introduced herself, claimed it was her birthday, and asked if I had any change so she could buy a soda from the convenience store we were just at. I asked her how much the soda was, and she said the one she wanted was $3. I opened my wallet, saw I only had $2, and thought about what I should do at that point. The woman, whose name I never really caught as she only had two teeth and horribly slurred speech, seemed to be in a place in her life I wish to never be. I felt that God had blessed me with more opportunities, luxuries, and love in my life than she might have ever had before. I did not believe for a second it was actually her birthday, but I believed the proper thing to do was to park my car on the curb, walk into the convenience store, and buy this woman a soda. That is exactly what I tried to do. After parking and entering the store, which (like my apartment), is in a shitty part of Charleston, I waited for the woman to grab her soda and meet me by the register up front. She returns with three Four Lokos. Four Loko is a 12% ABV malt beverage that comes in a 24 oz. container. Thats roughly 5-6 beers per container. I was shocked at first. I felt angry and betrayed at how my efforts to be a decent person were being taken advantage of by this lady. Then, suddenly, all those feelings vanished. I realized something - for only $9, this woman saved me from who knows how many hours of time and money spent trying to help others. Only $9. Thats all it took for a woman to show me some people arent worth the salt in their sweat. I bought her the drinks, despite the clerk kicking her out (apparently she begs around the store a lot). Hope she has a happy birthday.
