I performed at the open mic at Fair Trade tonight. To anyone wanting to perform but who is afraid: I highly recommend this space for your first performance. It is a really supportive and loving environment that I am happy to get to be a part of when I manage to go perform outside of a slam. You should check it out. It starts at about 8 (though I think you are really supposed to get there to sign up around 7:30-- I have never had an issue performing when I show up later) and is every Monday. Tonight was great. I read a new piece I am working on, got to talk to some new performers and see some older poets. It is just such a welcoming space and I am grateful for that.
