I posted this same photo a couple years ago. But a lot of new people have joined the site since then and can perhaps add to the memories, and Im wondering if any of them have heard of this old superstition? Surprisingly, over the years Ive found very few people who HAVE heard of it despite, as a child, thinking it was one of those things everybody knew about. It was handed down from my great-grandfather that it was bad luck to set your shoes down on the floor in the manner pictured below, reversed with right on left, left on right, and that they should be switched back to their proper sides as quickly as possible to avoid any forms of bad luck. The worst, however, was to let them set all night and wake up in the morning to find them still criss-crossed. Then you were doomed to bad luck and misfortune the entire day. Now while I dont exactly believe in superstitions such as walking under a ladder or fearing black cats and so forth, I still to this day never set my shoes down in reversed manner like in the photo. But its out of a subconscious habit, not from any sense of dread or doom! Oh, yeah, and I did switch them back to their proper sides right after taking the picture. :-)
