I propose that we remove all images of slave holders that adorn our nations currency and while where at it lets start changing the enormous amount of names of places around the country that are named after slave owners, lets also start removing their portraits from our schools, lets change the names of streets named after these people and many other things and places their images and names adorn. No matter what their contribution was to our country, they have very little entitlement to this level of glorification because of their ownership and trading in slaves (it really is that plain and simple. Every time I open up my bill fold I see the face of a slave owner, every time I read the papers, or I am in towns, cities, on avenues,or I look upon memorials I see the faces of these men or read the names of men who were slave owners. If it bothers me I can just imagine how it must impact millions of my fellow citizens whose ancestors were enslaved by these people. Its time to kick the door open on this issue and get real about who and why we glorify these brutal people, who engaged in the ownership of their fellow man and kept them in horrendous conditions while they played the part of the country squire. Their benefits from this horrid injustice is appalling to say the least. They were in many ways a very disgusting group of people and turned a blind eye to the misery they kept human beings in. I cant imagine anybody at any time who possessed any real level of decency who would have lived the life of a slave owner. The behavior of these people was unconscionable when you think about the vile, wicked, villainous way they led their lives. These are the same guys who were preaching about inalienable rights and how all people are created equal. How hypocritical can you be, when overseers are keeping your slaves in check by the fear of the most hideous punishments. Are these really the folks which should be holding in such high esteem. Do some serious reading on the subject of numerous men who were our Founding Fathers and discover the very, very dark side of their lives. For me I have a whole list of folks I would be naming all this places and thing after then this group. You can start the removal process with Washington, Jefferson, Madison and go on from there...A.F. Bruan
