I realize I often sound like a broken record but if this face can ever give anyone fighting not only cancer but any disease a glimmer of hope then I feel like were doing our job. I couldnt let today pass without a post. Its hard to believe that its been 7 years since a young Mom & Dad who had just got the hang of changing diapers sat in University of Kentucky hospital and had a pediatric surgeon draw out on the sheets the news that would forever change our lives. This hospital had only diagnosed one child with hepatoblastoma and never fully treated a patient with this particular cancer. I tell Lexie often cancer messed with the wrong chick!!! It may have tried but shes kicked its butt every step of the way. Although long term side effects may want to creep in and a small fear lives inside us our God is bigger and through every struggle I will remind her he has big plans and letting the devil win CANT be an option. I amazed myself this week by taking the girls in for a flu shots & labs on the exact same day I did 7 years ago when this all began. A small reminder that God can be bigger than our fears if we just keep the faith. These pictures have to be exactly 7 years apart. Her first night in the hospital and before school this morning. One thing that has never changed over the years and I pray never does is her smile even when life stinks, her incredibly big,loving, unselfish heart, and the strongest will of any 7 year old I know. Today I will hug both my precious babies as tight as I can and Thank God for giving me this girl who continuously teaches me so many life lessons!
