I remember reading a story about a bird burned in a forest fire. A ranger found this bird literally petrified in ashes on the ground by the base of a tree. He gently moved the bird with a stick and when he did, some baby chicks ran out from under their dead mother’s wings. They author explained that the mother, aware of the fire about to descend upon them, carried her chicks to the base of the tree and gathered them under her wings. Though she would have known to get some place high to escape the smoke, instead of flying to safety and saving herself, she covered her chicks with her wings and saved them. Isnt that how Jesus is? He covers us with His wings. Psalm 91:1-4 says, “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. HE SHALL COVER THEE WITH HIS FEATHERS AND UNDER HIS WINGS SHALT THOU TRUST: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Jesus died so that we could be forgiven and have eternal life. He was beaten and crucified for my salvation and my healing. Christians often feel like they are “unworthy” to ask God for help. But, Jesus has made us worthy and a child of God that He loves and desires to help. We are not covered with fig leaves like Adam and Eve were when they sinned, we are covered by His blood that gave us the covering of His righteousness. Like the bird covering its chicks, Jesus gave His life and covered you so that you could be reconciled to God, be His child, receive His help, and be blessed in every area of your life. That is what the covering did for you! Romans 4:7-8 says, Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. Once youve asked for forgiveness, God made you worthy so go to Him in faith when you need Him, and we need to continue to live for Him because He FIRST loved you! So if youve asked Christ, remember your sins are covered by the shedding of Christs blood. Be Blessed!!
