I saw a public figure accused of supporting the latest - TopicsExpress

I saw a public figure accused of supporting the latest intervention in Iraq. From listening to that public figure for a week, I have heard the following. 1. He says that it is supreme irony that Obama, the war ender, especially the ender of the war in Iraq, who was intensely interested in withdrawing troops, will now have a great part of his presidency judged on whether he can prevail in Iraq. 2. He says that the dems spent six years enraging their base with regard to Iraq (Cheney masterminded it to get oil money. Bush is a war criminal. Comparing our troops to those of Hitler, Stalin, and Pol Pot from the floor of the US Senate. Bush lied, people died.). So it is a fitting punishment that those who enraged the left now have to face the monster they made. 3. He thinks Obama is a hopeless buffoon, declaring The Islamic State not to be a serious threat earlier in the year, but now having to take it seriously. 4. He thinks that the language of this episode is humorously Orwellian--The Islamic State is not Islamic. And this is not a war--just a counterterrorism operation with force being justified by the 2003 congressional authorization of force for the Iraq WAR. 5. He thinks that the thing Obama calls a strategy is ridiculous--depending on the Iraqi army, who fled before The Islamic States forces. Saying we will train that army, though we apparently failed in doing so over a period of 5 years. Depending on a Syrian force that Obama slighted by calling them an army of farmers and pharmacists. I have not heard him pass judgment on whether this intervention should be done. Perhaps I missed something. But my guess is that Andy Borowitz just assumed that Rush Limbaugh backed this intervention.
