I see the benefits of the ALS/ Lou Gehrigs disease ice bucket challenge and am very glad they have raised awareness and more money than ever before.. I do feel like I should point something out from *my* perspective. The perspective of someone with a chronic illness that is so rare that it has about 500 cases reported in the history of English-language medical literature. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superior_mesenteric_artery_syndrome) Where is the Superior mesenteric artery syndrome challenge? There are so many things that people have going on.. I would love to be able to pursue treatment or investigative diagnosis to determine what is wrong with me. I can barely afford prescriptions! Im not asking for help or putting down the ALS challenge, so please dont get me wrong. I am just saying.. Theres a lot of suffering going on and just because some celebrity dumps some cold water on themselves it shouldnt take something like that to raise our awareness. We should be dedicating our lives to making the world a better place but instead we buy a moral get out of jail free card by taking 5 minutes to dump a finite resource of our planet over ourselves and displaying it to the world. Dont hate me for being honest. Im not pointing directly at you, or you.. Just saying.. Check it out from where I am sitting.
