I spent the evening with St. Helens NaNoWriMo group - we met for the Thank Goodness Its Over party, and then stayed to listen to Ken Scholes play his music. One by one people started leaving to go home - I was exhausted, but the laughter was too rich and the conversation too strong to leave. Finally though, it was obvious it was past time. The hours upon hours of laughter and fun had been sweet, but the place was nearly deserted, and I was nodding off at the table. It was late - so much later than Id stayed up in months. I knew Id pay for it tomorrow - Im not 21 anymore, and staying up until past midnight just idnt my thing anymore, not that it ever was. I could feel the lateness of the hour pressing down on me, like a weight upon my bones, so I finally excused myself and dragged one tired foot after another to my car, hoping I wouldnt get too bleary-eyed on the way home.... Only to discover it was only 10:03 pm. SIGH. I dont think Im cut out for the thug life.
