I think its funny how you can haggle just about anywhere in Hong Kong. The current exchange rate is 7.75 HKD for $1 USD. The actual rate is 7.07 to 7.70 (they have to make some money for the service). I wanted to get some cash on my way to Macau. 1st place listed 7.3. No thanks. Last place before the dock listed 7.4. Not too good either, so I walked away. I really wanted some extra cash, in case I cant find an exchange window. So I turned around, held up a $100 bill, and said give me 765 and this is yours.. He looked at it, said how about 755? Deal. He made 20 HKD by not passing up my offer (2% commission), and I saved 15 HKD over my next best alternative (without walking 8 blocks to another exchange that I knew was offering 7.68). Voluntary exchange is totally awesome.
