I want to share the words of a Hymn that was sent to me today by - TopicsExpress

I want to share the words of a Hymn that was sent to me today by Judy Clements, who was a kindergarten teacher during my time as principal at Hillcrest School. As a staff, we collectively believed that whatever we did on behalf of a child, how we effected a childs feelings about themselves and our school really would/could make a difference in the life of that child in ways beyond what we could count or measure. One never really can predict how what is done for a child will effect that child forever. We had a saying that was posted throughout the school as a reminder of the importance of our job as teachers to help each child grow and learn to his/her highest potential. Hillcrest School was a very happy and positive school where children were respected and experienced quality learning. It was a place where children thrived and teachers gave of themselves unselfishly every day. Our saying was as follows: A child can count the seeds in an apple. But, not even the wisest man can count the apples in an apple seed. Doesnt this coincide with what we believed? Today, Judy shared the following from a Hymn which further refers to the apple seed saying above. I think is is just as profound as the apple seed message and leaves us once again to ponder the importance of the job of a teacher to nurtured each child to becoming the best he/she can be. This has touched my heart. I hope it touches you , too. Thank you, dear Judy. for sharing this with me and now the world: In the bulb there is a flower; in the seed, an apple tree; in cocoons, a hidden promise: butterflies will soon be free! On the cold and snow of winter theres a spring that waits to be, unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see. Doesnt this remind us also of what we continuously need to do for the young children that are in our hands to create and to become all they can be. We do determine this. This is the awesome job a teacher. Yes, we cant count the apples in an apple seed but like flowers, cocoons and butterflies they can all feel greatness and success from learning. Its up to us to make this happen. May God bless and bestow His richest blessings upon those charged to teach our children.
