I was delighted to be present at the Being Greek Festival at Carss Bush Park on Sunday. The stunning weather and backdrop brought out record crowds for traditional Mediterranean cuisine, dancing and entertainment. I was so pleased to see the many families, often multiple generations together, participating in such a wonderful event. As someone of Greek heritage, these local community events are important in reminding all of us where we have come from and that we shouldn’t forget our proud heritage. As a fellow Greek Australian, I was immensely pleased to be able to celebrate Greek culture and all things Greek for the day with my own family and friends. Even Jessica Mauboy got into the spirit of the traditional Greek Dance once the dances were underway! We all call Australia home but being able to celebrate our unique history and culture is something truly special whilst we look forward to the future. I would like to also thank the Very Rev Fr. Sophronios Konidaris along with the organising committee for all their hard work which made yesterday a terrific day to remember and I hope everyone enjoyed themselves.
