I was just channel hopping and came across a jaw-dropping show called I Wanna Marry Harry where a Prince Harry lookalike has to choose a partner from a group of American girls who believe hes the real deal and and not just a ginger doppleganger. Hugely unfair because surely when you choose a partner, its the whole package and not just looks or even personality as even with personality theres a pre-conceived idea as to what has formed it? For me, the series is less a comment on the shallowness of people, more a comment on the shallowness of ideas from program makers. HOWEVER... it has given me an idea. Ive just contacted the production company and pitched for an Ibiza version. Its called I WANNA MARRY TONY. Basically, we get a group of young and gullible female workers and tell them that Tony Truman is looking for a wife. In steps yours truly (this year I must admit, having people coming up to me in Ocean Beach and going great party Tone has riled me less than in previous summers cos I just tell them to get a bottle of champagne on me). I take them all out on dates so they think Im him (Burger King, Casa Thai, Go-Kart track), then narrow it down until I eventually choose one to be his wife. Can you IMAGINE how disappointed theyre gonna be to find out that instead of Tony, theyve got a best-selling author/scriptwriter, bar owning villa owner with a convertible Merc and nothing better to do than write shit on facebook? It will be f***ing hilarious! Out on ITV2 next year... To be followed the following year by I WANNA MARRY OWEN WILSON/NIK SPEAKMAN where Andy Matthews appears as the lookalike....
