I watched an episode of Wheeler Dealers last night, the one with the Mark 1 Golf makeover. There was a bit where Ed needed to get some decals on and one of them tucked under the rear window rubber. He called on the expertise of a professional and it turned out to be my old pal Neil Healey . The program didnt appear to focus too much on the specialist skills of an automotive glazier, and there didnt appear to be a mention of Neils business in the credits. A short while ago I was approached by the producers who wanted to talk about me doing the windscreen on a 993 Porsche they would be featuring. I got the distinct impression that they wanted me to fall in love with being on the telly... IOW, do it for nothing. Ive worked for film companies before and I understand that they will try and economise as much and wherever possible. But it did highlight that in general, the windscreen - or glazing of it - on a car is not really seen as anything more than say, having a tyre fitted. Windscreen fitters: glorified tyre fitters?
