IMS News International Missionary Society SDA Church, Reform Movement August 6, 2014 Prayer Request for West Africa The following letter has been received from our brethren in Liberia, West Africa: Dear Fellow Believers, We are sad to inform you that we have lost some brethrenin the church. They are our Bible worker, Brother Benjamin Smith, and his son. They died from the deadly virus known as Ebola. Brother Smith accepted his sick brother, who came from Monrovia on Friday and died the next day. Not knowing he was already infected with the virus, he was hosted in the same room with the family, thus causing them to contract the virus. Presently, Brother Smiths body together with that of his little son David (about 5 years), who died earlier, are in the house with his wife and mother in law, who are suffering from the same virus. Brother Smiths wife and mother in law are now helpless, and the government through the Ministry of Health has positioned police at the house, preventing anyone from entering, to keep others from contracting and spreading the virus. Brother Smiths other children may also be infected with the virus, since they live in the house and did everything together up to the last moment. One of his sisters took two of the children away, but they were later stopped at one of the checkpoints when the police received information that a lady was running away with suspected Ebola patients. The Ministry of Health, in cooperation with the Liberian National Police, are investigating their status before further action is taken. The other two children are yet to be located, as they were taken by another person who is also being searched for by health personnel and police. Please remember these children in prayers. This Ebola virus has claimed more than 400 lives in Liberia since March 2014 and is still infecting many. Brethren, please remember us in your daily prayers. We are fasting and praying that God will have mercy on all of His children in this situation. Best regards, Eric B.C. Kekula
