IN LOVE WITH AFRICA - THE DARK CONTINENT My recent assault on Mount Kilimanjaro 2 months back...the highest peak in Africa... climbed to the top with my school friend Mehtab Ali Sayed....went all the way to the top on its treacherous and grueling trek.... it was a life time achievement ...having climbed nineteen and a half thousand feet ... I realized how it is more of a mental endeavor ... physical limits are crossed half way ... it is ones mind that keeps you going.... I was told that Martina Navratilova and many Mount Everest climbers have not been able to climb Kilimanjaro ....its a different kind of a trek altogether than the Himalayas .... Climbing to the top showed us the spectacular natural beauty and gradations of the fauna and flora ... in the five zones of grasslands, the rain forest, then Heath zone, then Tundra, and when there is almost no oxygen near the top ... the Arctic Zone.
