If they impeach President Jonathan.......Hmmmmmm Nigeria has not had any sitting president impeached before, but since this present democratic dispensation, there has been threats of impeaching a sitting president, it was quite loud during Obasanjos tenure, but at the end, nothing comes out of it, or maybe the president buys them over. In recent times however, there has been a lot of noise over the threat to impeach President Jonathan by the House of Representatives by mainly the members of the All All-Progressive Congress and a few within the Peoples Democratic Party who have different agenda in the party.I even heard that the Minority Leader in the House of Representative, Mr Femi Gbaja said that the list of names who are willing to sign the impeachment notice being peddled online is quite different from what they have, that theirs is richer. My small admonition If the APC is tired of President Jonathan, they have between now and February 14th to convince most Nigerian voters why they should be preferred instead of the PDP and Mr. President. They should make great efforts to address whatever issues trailing them presently, and tell Nigerians why the APC is better than the PDP. They should articulate all these in easy digestible formats so whosoever reads it can run with it. They should engage the Nigeria voters, they are not doing that. They should have a conversation with Nigerians, and they are not doing so. Rather they are wasting time and energy on an impeachment process many Nigerians would scoff at. As an elder, I know what will happen two minutes after Jonathans impeachment. First, the Nigerian Armed Forces will have to divide themselves into two, one will remain in the North East, while the second will go to the creeks of the Niger Delta. Well, oil is falling with embarrassing speed, so anyone can say that with oil prices going down as they are, exports of crude from the Niger Delta will not make enough impact, but even if it sells at %35 per barrel, how many other products do Nigeria have that sells for $35 per its unit? Moreso, the impact of such a renewed attacks on the already messed up image of Nigeria will affect other sectors of the economy. Not only will the Militants blow up all oil installments in their area, they will also commence their series of attacks, and this time, they may go beyond the Niger Delta region. Can we fight Boko Haram and Niger Delta militants at the same time? With this demoralisation in the military? Impeachment and thinking of impeachment at this time, show mental laziness and lack of proper understanding of Nigerias geopolitical challenges. If they are tired of Nigeria, they should simply call for a sitting and deliberate how to divide Nigeria without blood letting. If they go the path they are thinking, then Nigeria will go but with much bloodshed. One Yoruba adage that catches my attention says that the medicine for headache that will require cutting off the entire head, is of no use. Forget about this impeachment issue, and focus on campaigning for voters to vote your party instead , if you so like to take power next year. Disagree with me if you like, but let anybody make such attempt of removing the man through any other means except elections. Remove Jonathan, and you will redraw the present map of Nigeria. Igbo people say that what an elder sees while sitting down, a young lad even if he is on top of a tree, will not see it.
