Heres my part: Jason Lockart, who initiated the petition in favor of the amendment, arrived at 6:30 p.m. to find a line already waiting outside. Council meetings are not called to order until 7:30 p.m. and capacity for the room is around 105. Despite not being able to speak in front of council Tuesday, he said, “We definitely demonstrated there’s support for this issue.” He added, no matter if council is in favor or opposed, “All we’re asking is that it gets put on the agenda and voted for as the legal process of our government works.” As for those in opposition of the amendment, Lockart said, “They still have to go home and live with themselves. We’re on the right side of history ... At some point, they’re going to lose this war. They may have won this battle, but it’s a long road.”
