Im just feeling so grateful. Grateful that my mom made it in time. My grandpa passed away in his home last night, in his sleep, surrounded by loved ones. Grateful that we have the means available to go back and forth to Mexico when necessary, and that my job is flexible and understanding. Grateful that I have so many wonderful memories of my grandpa, going on trips, cruises, Disney World. Always sharing toys, trinkets, candies and chocolates from around the world. He was always there for me. He was there when I was born, kindergarten graduation, high school graduation, college graduation, and a gazillion milestones and moments in between. He walked me down the aisle a year ago, and literally skipped down the aisle during the rehearsal, so happy and handsome. And Im incredibly grateful that I saw him happy and healthy so recently. We went to the market together in January, just like he loved to do every Sunday after Mass, and he told me I looked beautiful. Ive only ever had one grandparent, but oh lucky Ive been.
