Im now obsessed with the word pronoia. Its the opposite of paranoia, defined as the belief that everything in the Universe is conspiring to support you. I woke up this morning in Lake Tahoe, and I was really missing my friend Dennis, who is now living in Peru and has been with me the last two times Ive been to Lake Tahoe. I noticed that I had a thought- Dennis should be here, and then I remembered that I believe in pronoia, which means that even though Im missing my friend, if Dennis is not here, its because the Universe is conspiring to support us. So my resistance to what is (Dennis is not, in fact, here) only creates unnecessary suffering. Einstein says The most important decision we make is whether we believe we live in a friendly or hostile universe. I believe we live in a friendly universe, so if Dennis isnt here, I believe its because both of our souls are growing as a result of the unwanted distance. I imagine all these loving beings on the other side of the veil conspiring to make us happy, wondering why we create so much suffering for ourselves by resisting what has been carefully orchestrated to help our souls evolve and become One with Source. When I remember that, it eases the longing in my heart and Im able to find more peace, accepting what is and trusting that things are exactly as theyre meant to be, and there is perfection in it all. Is there something youre resisting in your life? Are you the paranoid type or do you too believe in pronoia?
