Im so naive at 74. According to an indicator light, my tires needed air. I pulled into a gas station and asked for air. The attendant wanted a buck for air. I asked if he filled the tires since he was charging me for air. Nope, self service. He then said he would give me the air for free if I bought gas. I muttered a sotto voce, F**k you. Out of curiosity, I went to two other stations and suffered the same result. Ultimately, I ended up at the place I bought the tires two years ago, and they graciously fed the tires air and checked a few other things for free. After I thought about this driving adventure, I realized I am having difficulty re-integrating myself into this culture. So it goes.
