Im stunned by reactions to Dr. Tariq Ramadans letter. First, hes not bashing Sufis; hes critiquing scholars whose advocacy of purification of the heart either masks or fortuitously coincides with support for oppressive regimes. The number of people whove brought this up to me - and these are not stupid people - suggests that people are not reading a very carefully written letter closely enough. Second, if you agree with his criticisms of isna or RIS, it doesnt mean you support ISiS. Yes, some have said this.
