In Kabanana Compound in Lusaka, a woman identified as Agnes Banda - TopicsExpress

In Kabanana Compound in Lusaka, a woman identified as Agnes Banda got burnt yesterday the 14th April, 2014 between 18:00 hours and 19:00 hours as she attempted to rescue her baby from the inferno. The matter was reported by Gilbert Sakala the neighbour to the mother of the baby that she left the candle burning as she went to sell charcoal by the road side when the one roomed rented house caught fire and burnt the 9 months baby to death. When the mother was alerted of the inferno, she rushed to the house where she entered and tried to rescue the baby but she sustained burns on the face and hands. The body of the baby has since been taken to the University Teaching Hospital Mortuary and the mother whose condition is now stable is admitted to the same hospital. We are appealing to members of the public to always take safety measures when using such means of lighting like candles and braziers for heating as we approach this winter season to avoid such incidences.
