In March 13 last year, I wrote: Going by the PDPs penchant for election rigging and orchestrating violence in order to spite the opposition, we are likely to see the escalation of Boko Haram campaign in the build up to the 2015 elections in major pro-opposition cities so as to give the FG the pretext to impose curfew and militarize the electoral process, thus emasculating the oppositions plan to secure the ballot. Yesterdays attack was the third against secondary school students in Yobe and Borno States, you expect as a precautionary measure, the few boarding schools still operating in the area to be heavily guarded. But this was not the case, more worrying was the fact that the soldiers manning the nearest checkpoint were suspiciously withdrawn a day to the attack. This was not the first time such allegations were made. Innocent children are being killed, muslim and christian worshippers are being maimed, military camps and airports are being treasonously breached, young innocent girls are being abducted; so huge is the magnitude of the violence that no single family in Borno and Yobe States is spared from the loss of a family member, a friend, relative or neighbor. All for what? Because the president doesnt give a damn, because the president is determined to remain in power beyond 2015 and celebrate his political victory atop the dead and ruins of towns in Borno and Yobe States. All of this because the president and his collaborators are bent on exacting a revenge on an old historical rival. (Yes, we have heard their northerners-killing-northerners private gloatings). What do we do now, faced with a beastly Frankeistein and a conniving Federal power? Let Jonathan reconfigure his National Conference, lets break this Unitary Federalism and devolve back to regional autonomy where matters of internal security are fully delegated to respective regional governments. Jonathan and his military collaborators and conspirators should know that THEY CAN NEVER ESCAPE accountability for this unexplainable violence. One day, the truth behind all this shall be revealed, and we will do whatever it itakes to ensure justice is served, no matter how long, now matter what odds! Make no mistake, we will never forgive, we will never forget!
