In continuation of the faux news status: During a random conversation, the Obama Phone was brought up, and I feel that not enough people are informed on this subject and go around acting like our President is personally handing out cell phones like Santa Claus. The government phone program is NOT called Obama Phone (obviously). There are websites using this term to make profits by misleading people. The actual program was started back in the 1980s by Reagan and was first called the Universal Access Initiative. By 1996, it continued, but the name changed to the Telecommunications Act. When Bush was president, he continued the program, and so did Obama when he was elected. Its just been an on-going program that each president has to renew when theyre elected. I dont give a shit what you think about politics, but I feel the need to post something. Its upsetting that our society creates so much false information to constantly feed peoples need to be upset at someone or some group of people.
