Ingrid E Newkirk, the founder of PETA India and PETA affiliates - TopicsExpress

Ingrid E Newkirk, the founder of PETA India and PETA affiliates worldwide and the woman who put the modern animal rights movement on the map from Chicago to Chennai, is bringing her Naked Truth world tour to Delhi. Bold and always thought-provoking, Newkirk will share her thoughts about animals, our relationship with them and how that relationship can and should evolve from here. So make plans now to join special guest Koel Purie of Headlines Todays On the Couch With Koel to listen, learn, laugh and debate during a lively and inspiring evening with Newkirk. College students who attend will be given a special certificate of attendance by PETA following the event. The recipient of numerous awards and the author of 13 books, Newkirk was named a top businessperson of the year by Fortune magazine and has been the subject of two television documentaries: the BBCs Ingrid Newkirk: The Naked Revolutionary and HBOs award-winning I Am an Animal. Her work to help animals is regularly featured in newspapers around the globe, and she has appeared on numerous high-profile shows, including The Oprah Winfrey Show, 60 Minutes and Voice of America. The guiding principle of PETA India and its affiliates around the world is: animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, use for entertainment or abuse in any other way. But how does that translate into the action necessary to stop animal abuse dead in its tracks? Newkirk says it best: We fail to reach every person all of the time if we dont try, but well reach some of the people some of the time if we do try. Join her on 8 November to learn everything you need to know to become an effective advocate for animals. When: Friday, 8 November, 7 pm Where: Cinema Hall, Russian Centre of Science and Culture, 24 Ferozeshah Rd, New Delhi The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session moderated by Koel Purie, and light refreshments will be served. The event is free, but donations in support of PETAs animal-protection programmes will be gratefully accepted.
