Is the question how much exercise can I tolerate or how much do I need? The more-is-better approach doesnt work so well when it comes to exercise. Your body requires a very specific training approach to achieve your best result. The training session needs to be intense enough to stimulate the adaptive response your looking for -- If it is intense it must be relatively brief and employed infrequently to allow the body enough time and rest to produce the result. The formula for success is to realize there needs to be a balance between intensity, duration, and frequency of training -- and the latest research suggest that most people overtrain in terms of duration and frequency, yet under train in terms of intensity.
