It is DISGUSTING the lack of RESPECT our society has for our officers. This cop is NOT wrong! Tell me how, please? I think we forget quite easily the position these men and women are in on a daily basis out here on our streets. Look at the news on any given day if you need a reminder of what they are actually up against, and tell me you would not be cautious to put your safety first. I know if I were in his situation I would not take the risk. People are sick, and our officers are the ones who have to encounter them face to face in order to protect YOU and me. You never EVER know a persons true intentions, and you should never just assume it. This bozo just as easily could have been proudly taping his crime like a punk and then decide to pull a knife out to cut the officers throat. How the hell is he supposed to know? Maybe he has a wife and baby at home who are expecting him to use his better judgment while on the job to ensure the best odds that he make it back through his door at night. Maybe he cannot afford to take the risk of being the nice guy because he has more than just himself and his nice cop persona to worry about. Next time you watch one of these videos, just try to imagine you are that cop. No, not every officer does it by the books as he/she should, but lately I have watched several videos where some idiot thinks hes calling an officer out for being too aggressive or too quick to obtain; where Ive been seeing an officer who is SMART enough to know how this world operates and is not willing to risk their own life, or others all because of the chance that his/her actions will be taken out of context on a video recording. How about having RESPECT for the officer when they are asking NICELY for your cooperation?? That could help. It is really shameful. I have family and friends in law enforcement, and I can only hope that they never put their guard down, especially because they are worried about how they will appear on a damn video recording. To video record an officer can be looked at as a means of protection or exploitation; I myself have watched more videos with intent to exploit the officer than to protect themselves. Why did this kid need to come around the scene of the crime again? To be nosey, and then blatantly refuse to cooperate with the officer so he can feel comfortable with your presence at an ongoing criminal investigation???? This kid was hoping to stir up trouble, but was quick to give his last name to the officer whenever he learned the cop had to bring him to jail to find it out! I can understand it has to be nerve racking for any cop. I feel we have to take the time to see it through their perspective, especially with all these videos circulating. In this situation, the kid was no victim and he was certainly looking to exploit this cop who was trying very well to do his job. Would you be so willing to take a chance?
