It is as absurd -- more absurd -- for Israelis to march onto the Temple Mount and claim it is theirs than for modern-day Italians to do so -- since the Romans owned it more recently than the Jews; or for modern-day Turks to do so -- since the Ottomans owned it more recently than the Jews; or for a bunch of modern British and French people to march onto it and lay claim to it -- since the Crusaders from those countries owned it more recently than the Jews. The whole game of history says I own x is ridiculous to play in that region especially but you are really arguing at a disadvantage if you are Jewish since so many peoples ownership is far more recent.
