It is too disheartening that the political leadership in Anambra State is funneling the politicisation of Uke man-made tragedy wherein 43 innocents lost their lives. This is another murder in the cathedral. But in this case, it is not the death of Archbishop Thomas Beckam, rather, it is the deaths of the unbrimmed who yearned for the message of salvation and hopes, and whose governor is Mr Peter Obi. Here, the question of moral responsibility is in obvious oblivion and dearth. In March this year, the Prime Minister of Poland resigned citing that he was in event where police shot armless protesters; again, last year, the chief of police force (what we call Police IG) in South Korea resigned on his own because he could not prevent a rape perpetrated on a teenager; yet again, in 2005 Donald Rumsfeld refused to serve in the second term of President Bush under him as Defense Secretary, American soldiers abused Iraqi prisoners in Guantanamo Bay detention camp. Going by moral responsibilty, he tendered unreserved apology to the abused persons in the Congress. Why is Governor Peter Obi, the Chief Security Officer of Anambra State playing politics with people emotions and feelings? It is not enough that days of mourning and moments of silence have been observed. For such do not make impact on the victims of the man-made tragedy and their family members. They need something more heuristic and rebustic. On his side, Chief Willie Obiano, the APGA governorship candidate on whose account the adoration ground was turned into a political ground should immediately withdraw from gubernatorial race.
