Its been seven weeks since Boko Haram militants abducted more than 200 schoolgirls in Nigerias Borno State. Four weeks ago, the Nigerian military said it had rescued the girls--a claim that turned out to be a hoax. The military said on Monday that it now knows where the teenagers are being held, but will not use force to free them. Prior to this disclosure, little was known of the girls whereabouts or what the military was doing to free them. Most officials think any attempted raid to rescue them might probably be risky, and the girls would likely be killed by their captors. But many Nigerians are tired of the long wait and just want the girls brought back home alive. Our question on this issue therefore is: Should we now believe the Nigerian militarys claim that it now knows where the Chibok girls are being held when their earlier claim to have rescued the girls turned out to be false?
