Its interesting. Every year around July 4th, I have friends who begin to post their analysis about war, our soldiers... Etc. heres the thing, I was a soldier. Nothing will turn someone anti-war faster than having served. In my lifetime, there has not been one war (that I can remember) that was in defense of our nation. I disagree with many of the wars weve put ourselves in but, one thing I will never do (and I hope my friends will understand and agree) is disrespect our soldiers. Nobody joined the military to fight for oil, to help a politician look good, or to help line the pockets of corporations. That they have been sent to war for those things is not the soldiers fault. A 17, 18, 19 year old kid is not politically aware enough to understand what they are signing up for. They sign up with the best of intentions, to defend our people and our ideals. For that, we should always be grateful. We should thank them for their willingness to put their lives on the line whether or not we agree with the battles they are sent to fight. #ThankYouSoldiers
