Ive been thinking about this subject a lot, especially in light of the two unrelated deaths of black men by police officers. Growing up the use of the N word was forbidden. In fact, using it earned you a whipping. Today the usage of the word appears to be nationwide and frankly it disturbs me. In my opinion, as long as we call each other Nigga, those in power will think of us as property. Not men, not women, but property. Something less than human. If you look the word up, and I did it reads: usually offensive, a black person; a member of a socially disadvantaged class of persons; a word expressive of racial hatred and bigotry. Lets think back a moment and remember why this word was forbidden and stop using it.
