Ive finally seen the Ricky Gervaise (who I admit to not being keen on) Derek and wish I hadnt. With a moribund format, lazy writing style to gain cheap embarrassed laughs and questionable ethics before starting on the trendy moans of the PC brigade, it cant be described as anything but depressing dross. Devised by a man who jumps at the chance to put down the likes of Jim Davidson, Frankie Boyle and 70s sitcoms, it is amazing that that the temptation to laugh at ethnic minorities is avoided yet learning difficulties are embraced as a legitimate target.
