Ive got some very sad news, Bob Pylant, one of my very dear friends and a great singer/songwriter/poet, passed from this life yesterday evening in Stephenville, TX after a long bout with cancer. He will be sorely missed. The following is an email from Stephen Swartz which explains the details: Bob Pylant has shed this mortal coil this morning in Stephenville, Texas. He went gentle into that good night but not after really raging, raging against the dying of the light; as all good poets will do. He went out on his own terms, the same as he lived. I thought he might wait till Epiphany to depart us. Safe trip to Paradise my musical mentor, my friend, and soul brother. S- From Uncle: Bob passed away today, quietly around 5:40 or 5:45 p.m. Johnnie Barnett was with him at the time. She had been there since around 1:00 p.m. She thought by the look of his eyes that he recognized her, but he had not spoken a word the whole time. He had not eaten for several days and I am sure medicated to relieve his pain:however, he died a natural and peaceful death. It was on his on terms. Johnnie called me at about 6:00 p.m. saying that he had passed away about 15 0r 20 minutes earlier. The funeral home will pick up his body and transport it to Waco to the V.A,, as I understand it. He will be cremated there and his ashes returned at a date of which we do not know at this time. Bobs wishes were that there be no funeral service and that he become dust in the wind and have his ashes spread around the graves of his grand parents and great grand parents at the Barbee cemetery at Edna Hill, Texas (about 8 or 9 miles from Dublin). Johnnie, Bob, my wife and I drove to the Barbee cemetery during the time that Bob was taking chemo at the V.A. He liked the quiet, peaceful place, somewhat secluded, but beautifully kept and told us what he wanted done. It is the place of his kin on my mothers side of the family and goes back a number of generations. Johnnie has posted Bobs death notice on Face Book; she told me today. He had told us that he did not want a funeral and that he did not want his friends to come by the rest home. It was too emotional for him. We have tried to comply with his wishes. I will try to inform you of more details as they evolve. You can let his friends know because there are many that I do not know or do not know how to reach. We will miss him dearly. Buddy (Uncle)
