I’m pleased that OPM is continuing the successful Feds Feed Families food drive, which I helped launch six years ago. Over that time, more than 24 million pounds of food have been donated by federal employees to food banks across the country. I also appreciate Virginia First Lady Dorothy McAuliffe’s leadership on the Summer Meals Program to help provide food assistance to Virginia students from low income families during the summer months. Many are unaware that food donations are significantly lower in the summer – at the same time need is highest. I encourage all Virginia communities to support their local food banks and food pantries.
