Jerry E. Tompkins Date Of Birth: February 10, 1925 Date Of Death: January 19, 2014 SAUGERTIES…. Jerry E. Tompkins, 88, formerly of West Saugerties Road died Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Rome Memorial Hospital, Rome, NY. Born February 10, 1925 in Saugerties he was the son of the late Jerry and Sara Hansen Tompkins. A Veteran of World War II he served in the US Navy where he was awarded the American Theatre Ribbon, the Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a former employee of the Saugerties Central Schools Consolidated retiring in 1991. He was a Life Member of the Centerville Fire Department, the Saugerties American Legion Post #72, the Saugerties Fish and Game Club, the Landowners Assoc., and the Centerville Dart Ball Team. Survivors include his wife, the former Florence Dunn. 1 Daughter: Deborah Langon of Rome. He was predeceased by 2 Sisters: Anne Bauer and June Reynolds and 2 Brothers: William and Henry Tompkins. His Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Friday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. Of John & Lafayette Sts. Friends will be received Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Interment will follow in Blue Mt. Cemetery. Family suggests donations to be made in memory of Jerry to the Saugerties American Legion Post #72.
