Jills post of the parent signature reminded me of a time I WAS - TopicsExpress

Jills post of the parent signature reminded me of a time I WAS fooled. I had bet one of my classes that they couldnt get a copy of the test before I passed it out. I carried it with me and hid it under the bed at home for several days before test day. I was never separated from it--I even took it to the bathroom and the store with me and it was in the car wherever I went. Test day came. I stood at my desk in triumph, until the principal came to the door. He told me that I had a call from a parent. (I should interject here that back in those days a teacher could leave a classroom sometimes. It wasnt a good idea, but it wasnt really risky. That changed later--during my later years of teaching I NEVER left the classroom.) I went into his office to take the call. The squeak in the voice of Arthur Browns father should have clued me in as to what was happening, but it didnt. He was inquiring about a grade and I spoke with him briefly--he was not antagonistic at all. When I got back to my room, of course the test was in the hands of the kids. Ive always suspected the principal was in on it. I later learned that Arthur Brown (he was in another class) had gone to a nearby gas station and made the call. This was at Cascade, guys.
