Jim Percival, Patron of Jaguar Car Club of Western Australia and founder of Roadbend Motors, recieved Honary Life Membership from JCCWA President Luke Zambotti. Jims response : I have watched the Jaguar Car Club of WA grow in strength and numbers, to become the very special and unique club it is today. Dedicated, enthusiastic, welcoming, friendly and fun. I established Roadbend in 1965 in East Victoria Park at a Caltex Service station, after returning from UK and having worked at Henleys Jaguar in London. Establishing Roadbend gave me the outlet to work with Jaguar in WA and an extension of that has been the wonderful people I have met and associated with over the years, through this common interest. The Jaguar Car Club of WA reflects people from all walks of life who own Jaguars, people with passion, who want to share their knowledge and experience, people with an interesting story to tell, often going back to the previous generation, a grandfather, father or uncle who sowed the seed for the desire to own a Jaguar. I have memories of many wonderful and enthusiastic members who also had great character and were undying in their loyalty to Jaguar. Some are no longer with us and are missed in their passing. In 1981 Betty and I were very happy to welcome and host the ex Chairman Frank England (who insisted he be called Lofty), he was the right hand man of Sir William Lyons. Lofty was a wonderful story teller and the Club was privileged to enjoy him in Perth. Lofty returned for a second time bringing his lovely wife Doris with him. We later visited them in their home in Austria. The Jaguar Car Club of WA has very successfully hosted several National Concours in Perth, which although it is very hard work, creates a great atmosphere in the Club and generates lifetime friendships with our interstate enthusiasts. I am very proud to be your patron, and I wish the Jaguar Car Club of WA continued success. My family and I thank you for your continued support and friendship. And last but not least I thank you for this honour of Life Membership which I proudly accept. Needless to say we are very proud of our association with the JCCWA and delighted that they have chosen to honour our father Jim in this manner.
