July 4 initially celebrated the recognition of Philippine - TopicsExpress

July 4 initially celebrated the recognition of Philippine Independence by the USA on July 4, 1946. The event was celebrated on every year until 1962, when President Diosdado P. Macapagal issued Proclamation No. 28, moving the date of Philippine Independence Day from July 4 to June 12, the date in 1898 when independence was proclaimed in the balcony of the residence of General Emilio F. Aguinaldo in Kawit, Cavite, and the national flag and anthem presented to the Filipino people. I have met and know 2 people who where part of the American troop which was led by Gen. Mc Arthur, one was a navigator who where part of the team who distributed bundles of joy when Gen. Mc Arthur promise to return to Philippines and the other one was with the army who fought back against the Japs, I salute them and thank them personally for setting us free against the Japs.
